Secret Room Theatre Playwriting Group Secret Room Theatre Playwrights Group is starting up again for nine more Tuesday night sessions. The dates are: 2/24, 3/10, 3/24, 4/07, 4/21, 5/05, 5/19, 6/2, 6/16. The workshop is free and open to any playwright in the Philadelphia area. You do not have to attend all the sessions, but you should attend at least one meeting before you sign up for a reading slot. The first part of each meeting is devoted to the reading of 2-3 page playwriting exercises. These optional exercises are written before class and are read cold by others in the group. The exercises are designed to get you writing and give you a chance to hear your work read aloud at every session. We do not do a formal critique of these exercises. The second part of each meeting consists of three reading slots of 10-15 minutes each. Playwrights sign up in advance for a slot and bring at least as many copies of the script as there are speaking parts. You can read either a complete short play or a part of a longer work. Each reading slot will be followed by a brief critique of the play. The meetings will all be at 7:30 on the 3rd floor of The First Unitarian Church of Philadelphia at 2125 Chestnut Street. Enter through the gate and little courtyard on the far right of the church and press the intercom button that says "Beacon Center" in the vestibule.
